Brazilian singer dies in freak circumstances during live performance
Brazilian singer Ayres Sasaki has tragically passed away after a cable reportedly caused him to be electrocuted during a live performance at the Solar Hotel in Salinopolis, Brazil.
The 35-year-old musician is reported to have died almost instantly after making contact with the cable, with some early reports suggesting he became wet after hugging a fan in the crowd but this is yet to be verified.
However, Brazilian outlet Diário do Pará claims the singer was playing the guitar when the incident occurred. Authoritative experts and the Pará Civil Police are currently investigating to establish accurate details about the cause of death.
In a statement shared on social media, the Solar Hotel confirmed they are cooperating with the police investigation into Sasaki’s death, adding their “thoughts and condolences are with Ayres Sasaki’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
Rita Matos, Sasaki’s aunt, told ISTOÉ Gente: “We are contacting people who were with him at the moment to understand how everything happened. We will gather all the information in a statement that we will release to the press.”
Sharing a message to Instagram Stories, Sasaki’s wife, Mariana, who married the singer in October last year, said: “I would like to thank you for every message of affection and comfort, for every prayer during this difficult time that we are going through. I haven’t been able to read all the messages yet, but as I feel better, I will respond to each one. Thank you.”
Sasaki’s funeral took place on July 15th, per O Globo. In addition to performing, he was also an architect and urban planner, and shared a daughter with his wife.
Following his death, some of Sasaki’s friends paid tribute on social media, including filmmaker Raphael Macedo, who wrote: “Always a wonderful person and loved by all. The divine plans no one explains but I am sure you would like to be remembered by your voice, joy and friendship!”
The band RockON said: “An extraordinary person of friendliness and character, an exceptional music professional!”
At this stage, the full details surrounding Sasaki’s death are yet to come to light and more aspects are set to be revealed once the investigation by local authorities concludes.
