Boy George shares pro-Israel song
Boy George has shared a song on social media in solidarity with Israel.
Intriguingly, the track, titled ‘We Will Dance Again’, has not been made available on streaming platforms, with the Culture Club frontman instead posting it on his X account on July 26th along with the caption, “Shalom”.
On the first line, the track refutes that a genocide is currently happening in Gaza, despite authorities such as reports from the United Nations, Amnesty International, and the Human Rights Watch claiming otherwise. He sings, “You say genocide, I say war, When you’re attacked, it’s what the army is for.”
‘We Will Dance Again’ deals with the October 7th terrorist attack by Hamas that killed more than 1,200 people. The lyrics read, “Young girls raped against trees, Murdered brutally, You condemn the Jews, with selective memory, Musicians holding flags, mouthing like sheep, Propaganda fuelled by the internet feels so weak.”
Then, on the chorus, “we will dance again” is sung, which is also the title of a 2024 documentary about October 7th.
At the end of the song, a message is then delivered in Hebrew.
Boy George has been a vocal supporter of Israel on social media in recent months and also rejected the cultural boycott of Israel in 2017 to perform with Culture Club in Tel Aviv.
Earlier this year, he reaffirmed his support for Israel at a Eurovision event in London amid a backlash to their inclusion, stating, “I have many, many Jewish friends that I’ve had since I was 15 or 16 years old. Are people asking me as a principled human being to turn my back on my Jewish friends? It’s not going to happen, it’s never going to happen.”
The Culture Club singer, who isn’t Jewish, added, “From the beginning of my career I wore a Jewish star. Go back and look at pictures of Culture Club. I am so affiliated with Jewish people. I am not necessarily affiliated with Israel. I don’t really have an opinion on that.”
Boy George was also involved in Eurovision in 2026, representing San Marino. However, his collaboration with Sennit didn’t make it past the semi-final stage of the pop competition.
