Bonobo announces new star-studded album, ‘Distance In Static’
Bonobo has announced a new album, Distance In Static, slated for a September 11th release via Ninja Tune.
The forthcoming project from the electronic maestro will include guest vocals in several languages from Joy Crookes, Arooj Aftab, Nilufer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis (Hundred Waters), and Aanya Martin.
Bonobo, whose real name is Simon Green, has already road-tested plenty of the material in packed-out pop-ups in Paris and London.
The electronic musician has pulled from a vast array of influences on the new project, as he explained, “I want to reinforce this idea that you can be more than one thing…”
The record, which is preoccupied with searching for transcendence, promises to be a sure-footed reflection of where he is as an artist today.
Bonobo explained, “I think the front end of what I’ve done has now become something that’s referential to younger people. I liked the idea of listening for a distant signal — trying to find something in the noise.”
Distance In Static was a global project; Bonobo’s recording sessions spanned LA, Tokyo, London and beyond. A significant portion of the record was completed at Neil Young’s legendary Broken Arrow Ranch in California earlier this year.
The artist has released the new club-focused track ‘Me And You’ to celebrate the announcement.
If this wasn’t enough, the 50-year-old has announced a brand new Bonobo Live show designed by Pierre Claude, renowned for his work with Air, Gesaffelstein, Phoenix, and Caroline Polachek, which will kick off this November with a headline run across North America.
