Bombay Bicycle Club announce four tiny London shows this month

Bombay Bicycle Club have announced four new shows in London this month in the grassroots independent venues that inspired them as teenagers.

On March 13th and 14th, they will perform at The Camden Assembly, which has a capacity of around 450. A week later, on March 20th and 21st, they will head to Archway’s Nambucca, which has a capacity of 300.

The set won’t include any of their newer material; instead, the setlist will be formed exclusively from their early EPs, singles, and MySpace demos.

The support acts for each of the four shows have come from a battle of the bands competition launched on their social media at the end of last year, which called for 18-and-under musicians in groups to send through their work.

Winners Tight Lines will support Bombay Bicycle Club in Camden, while Call Me Animal will support the shows in Archway.

Fans hoping to get a ticket should note that tickets will be available via prize draw, with proceeds going to fund Universal Music UK Sound Foundation, a music education charity for children. The prize draw entry costs £10, and results in two tickets for each fan chosen.

Additionally, the band recently announced a celebration of 20 years together, with a one-off performance at London’s LIDO festival. They will be returning to their roots and performing their 2009 debut album, I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose, in full on July 14th.

Support comes from Metronomy, Alice Phoebe Lou, Billie Marten, Lucy Rose, and more to be announced.

Far Out gave Bombay Bicycle Club’s latest album, My Big Day, a warm four star review, observing, “Whether it is through a deliberate return to their original creative constitution, a lack of care for the reception the record will receive or simply that the band are back to their best, this album feels like a maturation of the original starter kit that saw them turn into ready-baked brilliance 15 years ago.”
