Bob Dylan takes over Philadelphia: Here’s his full setlist

Bob Dylan might be 85, but he’s devoted his life to the road and has no plans to stop anytime soon.

Last night (July 14th), Dylan’s current tour, which is being billed simply as Bob Dylan in Concert, saw him perform a huge show at the TD Pavillion at the Highmark Mann Center in Philadelphia.

Since March, Dylan has been performing across North America, initially on the concluding leg of his five-year Rough and Rowdy Ways Tour, before getting his Bob Dylan in Concert tour underway this summer, trekking across amphitheatres across the land.

Now, the final few shows of his run are in sight, with Dylan scheduled to play 11 more shows over the next few weeks before he finally takes a well-earned rest.

His upcoming itinerary includes a landmark performance at the Forest Hills Stadium in New York on July 18th, as well as the Leader Band Pavilion in Boston ahead of the closing date in Nashville on August 1st.

While Dylan does have a knack for mixing up his setlists, playing rarities that nobody has heard in decades, and even throwing in the occasional unexpected cover, there’s been a consistency to his recent shows.

Largely, this summer has seen his sets stay almost the same, with Dylan delivering 16-song sets that typically start with ‘To Be Alone With You’ from Nashville Skyline, which is true for his performance in Philadelphia.

Although he still found room for five songs from his most recent album, 2020’s Rough and Rowdy Ways, in his Philadelphia set, it was much more of a rounded setlist that encompasses his entire career than Dylan has given in recent years.

Notable inclusions in the set were favourites such as ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’, ‘When I Paint My Masterpiece’, ‘Man in the Long Black Coat’, and his closer ‘I Shall Be Released’. The full setlist from the show is listed below.

Dylan’s ongoing tour has largely been making headlines due to the revolving tour policy in relation to his bandmates. Most recently, on July 10th, eagle-eyed Dylan fans spotted a new guitarist in his live band in Cincinnati, Ohio, at PNC Pavilion, later confirmed to be Memphis-based rhythm and blues guitarist and vocalist Jad Tariq.

Tariq had replaced Julian Lage, who had previously replaced Doug Lancio after he quietly exited the tour in mid-June. However, Lage’s exit is believed to be due to prior scheduling conflicts, such as the Minerva Musicae Jazz Festival in Italy, which he agreed to before accepting the gig with Dylan.

Additionally, Bob Britt, who had been a staple in Dylan’s band since 2019, has also departed the group, with Joel Paterson stepping in.
