The 15th edition of the Bootleg Series focuses on Bob Dylan’s Nashville recording with country legend Johnny Cash. Stereogum provides the demo clip which sees Cash and Dylan with a slack performance of ‘Wanted Man’ with the added easter egg of June Carter heard giving advice to the performers at the beginning of the track.
Written for Cash to sing on his own by Dylan, it would go on to become a mainstay of the country star’s repertoire. Travelin’ Thru, 1967 – 1969: The Bootleg Series Vol. 15 will also see both ‘Mystery Train’ and ‘Girl From the North Country’ and many more feature on the with a release date of November 1st.
One of the most sensational performances of ‘Wanted Man’ came when Johnny Cash visited San Quentin and opened the energised and iconic set with the track. It will go down in history as one of Cash’s most memorable songs, and above you can listen to him and Bob Dylan working it all out together.
