Blood Orange shares first track ‘Charcoal Baby’ from new album ‘Negro swan’

Blood Orange, AKA Dev Hynes, has shared the video for ‘Charcoal Baby,’ the first new track from his new album Negro Swan. The song was co-written with Porches’ Aaron Maine. The new album, which follows 2016’s Freetown Sound, it out on August 24 via Domino.

The clip was directed by Crack Stevens and sees a host of touching and modern clips, depicting the many types of human expression which make our society.

“My newest album is an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence, and the ongoing anxieties of queer/people of color,” Hynes said in a statement about Negro Swan. “A reach back into childhood and modern traumas, and the things we do to get through it all.”
