Blondshell announces third album, ‘Violins’, with dauntless title track

Blondshell has announced her third studio album, Violins, set for a September 25th release via Partisan Records.

To celebrate the announcement, the star, whose real name is Sabrina Teitelbaum, has released the album’s title track, which retains all the usual grit and grunge she is renowned for. “You showed your hand, snapped my wristband. A pat on the ass like snow on a hill,” she sings.

The song comes alongside an official video directed by Sabra Binder, which sees the 29-year-old singer-songwriter sing along to the track in a handful of liminal spaces.

Explaining the creative decision behind the song, Blondshell shared, “This song sums up the album in a lot of ways. When I was writing, I felt really drawn to images of patience and kindness, for example putting your head on someone’s shoulder, alongside images of violence.”

She added, “I was also inspired by the idea of healing slowly and refusing to be rushed by any outside force. Things genuinely just take the time they take. I’m not at a point in life where I can have a no assholes policy yet, but I like the idea of weeding out people that aren’t going to let me have limitations.”

Turning her attention to the 11-track record as a whole, she shared, “This record’s heavy in a way. It’s gotten a little bit less literal. There’s more imagery. But my main goal with this record was to have songs that hit hard. I wanted big lead lines.”

In the social media announcement for Violins, the star added, “Each time I get to do this, the music ends up closer to what I intended.”

In support of the forthcoming release, Blondshell will embark on a tour around North America, the UK, and Europe, including her biggest-ever London show at the Roundhouse on December 15th.

Far Out gave Blondshell’s last full-length release, If You Asked For A Picture, a glowing four-star review, observing, “These achievements feel like natural continuations of everything that made Blondshell great to begin with, with more emotional nuances to keep you hooked once again.”

The star previously released what sits as the album’s second song, ‘Heart Has To Work So Hard’. See the full tracklist below.
