Bleachers share new single ‘Alma Mater’ featuring vocals from Lana Del Rey

Jack Antonoff’s Bleachers have shared a new single titled ‘Alma Mater’, the second offering from their upcoming fourth studio record, Bleachers. The self-titled album is set for release on March 8th, 2024 via Dirty Hit.

Following the release of the sax-driven ‘Modern Girl’ earlier this year, ‘Alma Mater’ provides a second glimpse at the highly-anticipated new record. It opens with the distinctive sound of Lana Del Rey’s voice. “Baby, I want you,” she sings over whirring vocalisations before suggesting, “Maybe like some of Jack’s newer stuff?”

Slightly darker and more subdued than its predecessor, the new single plunges into fuzzy, layered instrumentation and harmonised vocals, though Antonoff does still manage to sneak a saxophone in. His clear vocals cut through the soundscape as he declares, “Some dreams I wake up thinking about, some dreams are meant to die, kill your idols in the street outside in daylight.”

The upcoming fourth record from Bleachers, titled Bleachers, will mark their first full-length release since Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night in 2021, which also included a feature from Del Rey.

Inspired by Antonoff’s contemplations of modern life and culture, the new record will feature lead single ‘Modern Girl’, follow-up ‘Alma Mater’ and 12 more tracks.

Following the release of the new record, Bleachers are set to embark upon a tour of the UK in March 2024. The band will play shows at London’s O2 Kentish Town Forum, Manchester’s O2 Ritz, Birmingham’s O2 Institute and Glasgow’s SWG3 Galvanizers.
