Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne announce streaming details for farewell show
Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne have announced details to stream their farewell show at Villa Park, Birmingham, on July 5th.
The huge show, which is sold out, features an ensemble of the biggest names from across the rock world who are all set to play their part in Osbourne’s goodbye from the stage. It will also mark the first time Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward have played as Black Sabbath in more than two decades.
Other acts confirmed to appear include host Jason Momoa, Steven Tyler, Soundgarden, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Mastodon, Tool as well as members of Limp Bizkit, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Megadeth, Van Halen, Ghost, and Faith No More.
The concert, which is in aid of Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice, sold out almost instantly after going on sale. However, it is now able to live stream for £24.99, and those who purchase the stream will also be able to watch it back until July 7th.
Additionally, for the cost of £54.99, buyers will receive a special edition t-shirt commemorating the concert as well as access to the live-stream
Sharon Osbourne said in a statement: “We had such an overwhelming demand from fans from around the globe, who couldn’t get tickets to the show, and they took to social media, pleading with us to broadcast a livestream of the show. Being this is such a historic event, we just couldn’t let them down.”
Meanwhile, Kelly Sweeney, managing director of Mercury Studios, added: “Mercury Studios are incredibly proud to be involved in capturing this monumental milestone at Villa Park. ‘Back To The Beginning’ will be an unforgettable experience, and our aim is to deliver this moment to fans worldwide, wherever they are, so they don’t miss out on seeing music history being made.”
In a recent interview, Osbourne explained how ill health enforced his decision to call a day upon his career, sharing, “I’d love to say ‘never say never’, but after the last six years or so … it is time.”
The Black Sabbath singer also revealed his wholesome plans for the future, adding, “It’s time for me to spend some time with my grandkids, I don’t want to die in a hotel room somewhere. I want to spend the rest of my life with my family.”
