Black Country, New Road have shared their latest single, ‘Track X’. The song is the latest single to be released from their forthcoming debut LP, For The First Time, which arrives on February 5th through Ninja Tune. On the track, singer Isaac Wood delivers a passionate and heart-wrenching vocal, accompanied poignantly by a strings section that adds an extra sense of gravitas and emotion to ‘Track X’.
The song sees Black Country, New Road showcase a much more subdued feel to it than their previously released work, one which shows a different facet to their sound. The six-piece’s expert technical craftsmanship juxtaposed with Wood’s fragile vocals makes for an exciting match that connects well to create a unique and original sound.
“‘Track X’ is a song we first worked on in 2018 but one that never made it out into our live performances,” frontman Isaac Wood says. “We decided to resurrect it during the recording of For The First Time and assemble it in the studio. The story is old but a good one and worth telling. We believe that people will enjoy singing along.”
Previously commenting on the upcoming debut album, Wood said: “I’ve always been interested in a really honest portrayal of what a band is and what they’ve been working on.
“I think it’s really nice if people can see an artist like: this was them in the early days, this was their next phase and that they’re quite clear and honest about genuine progression as people and musicians.”
