Billy Corgan claims to have 26 new songs currently in the works for a brand new Smashing Pumpkins album.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band, Corgan looks set to reunite with reuniting with guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin – as reported by Far Out.
A new image has emerged online showing the band’s line-up, it includes Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin, and Jeff Schroeder posing for new press shots.
It was only days ago that front-man Billy Corgan took to Instagram to confirm that he was back in the studio with Rubin. In the post he wanted to assure followers that he was in good health after he posted a photo with a caption about “making peace with God.”
Now, discussing new material directly, Corgan said: “OK, I misspoke,” wrote Corgan on Instagram. “Today wasn’t the last day in studio. More work ahead (lyrics, vocals, strings). Which I guess means something like 26 songs currently in various states of completion, production, insanity. But honestly, and I mean this from the heart, I’m very pleased to be this engaged with making new music at this point in my life.
“I started playing the guitar April 1, 1981, so almost 37 years later the colors remain vivid in my mind, there are still fresh (and dare I say provocative) subjects to address, and the guitar feels once again like the preferred weapon of choice.”
