Billie Joe Armstrong has confirmed that Green Day are working on new material.
The band, who were formed in 1986 by Armstrong alongside bassist Mike Dirnt, are putting together a follow-up to 2016 record Revolution Radio which was well by fans and critics alike.
Despite having sold more than 85 million records worldwide, Green Day have struggled somewhat for major commercial success following the release of their hugely popular 2014 album American Idiot. That said, the single of the same name dipped in and out of the UK Top 10 earlier this year ahead of Donald Trump’s visit.
With twelve studio albums to their name already, fans are excitedly awaiting a thirteenth. When asked directly by a fan on the bands future, Armstrong revealed he is writing new music: “I’m writing new songs for gd now,” but failed to offer any more in the sense of specific details.
