Billie Eilish has sent her fans into a state of jubilation after revealing she is set to release a brand new single later this week.
The new track is titled ‘Therefore I Am’ and is due to be released into the world this Thursday. In a post on social media, Eilish announced the song and shared its artwork on Instagram, telling fans that the song will arrive at 10am PT or 6pm BST. “I’m so excited for this one,” she wrote. It seems her brother and collaborator Finneas is also struggling to contain his excitement for the release of ‘Therefore I Am‘ as he commented: “You are not ready.”
After earlier in the year suggesting that a new album wouldn’t land until at least 2021, Eilish last month shocked her fans by confirming that she had a new track arriving in November, which would turn out to be ‘Therefore I Am’. The singer was responding to questions on her Instagram stories when one clever fan asked “new song?” to which she replied: “November.”
Fans shouldn’t get too excited about a new album being released anytime soon, however, as Finneas confirmed in September to The Herald Sun that he was still not interested in releasing either his own or Billie Eilish’s work while the world was still in a health crisis lockdown. He said that he didn’t want either LP to “be a bummer COVID record”.
Speaking to the publication, Finneas went on to say, “I have a desperate desire not to release them during COVID-19. It’s the vaccine record. I want it to be the album everyone’s out dancing in the streets to,” Eilish’s longtime producer confirmed.
The song will be Eilish’s first new music since July when she released ‘My Future’ and her record-breaking stunner for James Bond ‘No Time To Die’. While the film is suffering delays, the song has become an instant classic.
