Bill Murray has confirmed his decision to reprise his role as Dr Peter Venkman in the upcoming film Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Directed by Jason Reitman, the son of Ivan Reitman who directed the first two iconic pictures, the film has been a long time in the making. Starring Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard, the film follows a single mother and her two children as they move to a haunted house in Oklahoma.
The list of stars is even bigger than that as Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson are confirmed to make their comeback and, on top of that, Sigourney Weaver is due to make a cameo appearance having appeared in the original films.
“The script is good,” Murray told Vanity Fair in a behind-the-scenes interview. “It’s got lots of emotion in it. It’s got lots of family in it, with through lines that are really interesting. It’s gonna work.”
Sadly though, the Ghostbusters cast will be without one notable member of the team as Harold Ramis, who played Dr Egon Spengler, passed away in 2014. “We are a man down,” Murray continued. “That’s the deal – and that’s the story that we’re telling, that’s the story they’ve written.”
