Big Thief announce new tour for 2025
Big Thief have confirmed they will spend the latter part of 2025 on the first leg of their Somersault Slide 360 tour.
The band will make twenty stops all across North America on the tour. Outside of choice festival appearances, Big Thief have been hiding away from screaming crowds for the most part in recent times. In 2023, they finished touring their 2022 album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You.
In July 2024, they parted ways with bassist Max Oleartchik, though no definitive reason was given. “This change was made for interpersonal reasons with mutual respect in our hearts,” their statement read.
Despite not touring for a while, the band have released several recorded offerings. In February, they released five-track EP Passional Relations containing mostly unreleased songs from the Dragon New Mountain sessions.
Most notably, vocalist and guitarist Adrianne Lenker has been extremely busy with a solo career. Bright Future came out in March; Far Out said that the near-perfect offering was, “Uniquely perfumed with flecks of the farm, the marauding meadow and the river that runs through those trees, it is hard to distinguish Lenker’s musical output from the very earth she stands, gilded by her powerfully idiosyncratic vocal tones and wry lyrical positioning.”
Lenker also released a live album, Live at Revolution Hall, on April 24th, which documents three days of touring her solo album in 2024.
Guitarist Buck Meek and drummer James Krivchenia both shared solo albums, too. Far Out called Krivchenia’s release “an intriguing conjuring of forestry electronica.”
