Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil joins Frightened Rabbit on-stage for Scott Hutchison tribute

Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil last night joined Frightened Rabbit on stage at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park to perform The Modern Leper as well as covering Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing in the Dark.

The cameo was part of their “The Songs of Frightened Rabbit” concert, a tribute night celebrating the life of Scott Hutchison, the Frightened Rabbit singer who last May took the decision to take his own life.

Members of Frightened Rabbit including drummer Grant who is Scott’s brother, Billy Kennedy and Andy Monaghan performed a set of eight songs which saw them reunite for the first time since Scott’s death.

Other guests who took part in the show which was in aid of the charity ‘Social Bite’ which aims to tackle homelessness as well as the Scott Hutchison foundation included The Twilight Sad’s James Graham and Andy McFarlane, singer Kathryn Joseph, and Fiskur.

Following the event the band took to Instagram to write: “We felt Scott’s presence in every word that was sung with us last night by the incredible folks who joined us on stage and in the whole bandstand.”

Ahead of the event, drummer Grant Hutchison told the BBC: “It seemed like the right thing to do, and like a natural thing to do – to make a positive thing out of something that was a very tragic event – to be able to help two charities and two causes, and also to play with people that are good friends. I think I’ll be more nervous than I’ve ever been for a Frightened Rabbit gig before, it’ll be strange.”
