The team behind Bestival have announced that they are to launch a brand new event in Southampton next year.
Common People festival will take place May 23rd and 24th on Southampton Common. It has been promised to be a south coast extravaganza that will bring together the cream of the crop from the music world, and the undying spirit and inclusive ethos that have seen Bestival and Camp Bestival become such successes.
There haven’t been any confirmations regarding the lineup yet, but the festival is sure to prove popular with locals, having built up a long-lasting affiliation with the city that is the natural gateway to the Isle of Wight.
Head organiser Rob da Bank said: “We have been inundated with offers to start new festivals every year but it wasn’t until we found the beautiful site of the Common that we felt it was right to start a new chapter in Bestival’s history.”
He went onto reveal more about the set-up of Common People, confirming that there will be no camping in an effort to offer “a metropolitan experience”.
Common People have stated there will be a full bill of live music, DJs and creative arts announced in the new year and anyone interested in booking their place early can register for a pre-sale now at the CommonPeople.net.
