Beck announces first album in seven years, ‘Ride Lonesome’
Beck has officially announced details of his new album, Ride Lonesome, which will arrive later this year.
The upcoming album, which is the Grammy-winner’s first full-length album in seven years, will be released through Capitol Records on September 18th.
It comes after Beck previously shared the title track back in April, along with plans for a North American tour in September to coincide with the album release.
Taking to Instagram, Beck shared of the new album, “My new album Ride Lonesome is coming out this fall. The musicians from my original touring and recording band that I recorded Sea Change, Morning Phase and Mutations with — Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Joseph Manning, Jason Falkner — reconvened with me at my favorite studio (Room B at United Studios in Hollywood).”
For the record, Beck himself was on production duties while Nigel Godrich handled mixing, which was a joyful reunion for the singer-songwriter.
Beck continued, “We had Nigel Godrich, who worked on Sea Change and Mutations with us mixing all the songs. It had been a decade since we went in the studio and recorded Morning Phase. This time it felt like the playing and the chemistry had evolved and deepened— a sound that’s come together over the decades of working together.”
He also said of the forthcoming record, “While we were revisiting a musical and physical place, it also felt like we were finding new sounds and emotional textures along the way.”
In September, he’ll kick off the Ride Lonesome tour in Vancouver on September 16th, followed by stops in Woodinville, Portland, Santa Barbara, the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and two nights at The Masonic in San Francisco.
Then, in October, Beck will kick the month off on October 1st at Red Rocks in Colorado, ahead of trips to Omaha, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit and two nights at Massey Hall in Toronto.
Beck will then round out his month with shows in Boston, Philadelphia, two nights at the Paramount in Brooklyn, Washington, Durham, Asheville, Atlanta and Nashville.
