Beabadoobee has today been announced as YouTube’s first ‘Artist on the Rise’ for 2020.
The British singer-songwriter shared details of her debut album Fake It Flowers as well as detailing her brand new barnstorming single ‘Care’ just a few days ago and this accolade arrives as the icing on the cake of an extraordinary week.
Bea has said this on the award: “I’m really excited to be YouTube’s first Artist On The Rise for 2020. My videos are such an important, personal part of what I do and to have them helping me reach more people with them is amaaaazing.”
Meanwhile, YouTube’s Director of Music, Dan Chalmers added: “Beabadoobee is a phenomenal talent and voice of a generation. Having already been part of The Foundry initiative and having featured on our Ones To Watch 2020 list, Beabadoobee was a natural choice for our first Artist on the Rise of 2020. She is an immense talent who continues to surprise and delight us. It has been a pleasure to have provided the platform for her to develop her distinctive DIY vision and inimitable aesthetic – one that is connecting with fans on a truly global scale.”
Speaking on her new track ‘Care‘, the musician said: “This song has end of ’90s movie vibes like you’re driving down a highway,” Bea says of the new track. “It is pretty much me being angry at society or people around me who I just don’t think know me and don’t care. I don’t want you to feel fucking sorry for me. I just want you to understand what I’ve been through.”
