Baftas 2025: Jeff Goldblum and Take That confirmed to perform at ceremony
With the Baftas set to commence on February 16th, English pop royalty Take That and actor/musician Jeff Goldblum have been confirmed to perform at the ceremony.
Take That are set to perform their hit single, ‘Greatest Day’, which notably featured in Sean Baker’s movie Anora, which is up for seven nominations at this year’s Baftas. The film is shortlisted in notable categories including ‘Best Film’, ‘Best Director’, and ‘Original Screenplay’. Meanwhile, star Mikey Madison is nominated for ‘Best Leading Actress’ and for the coveted ‘Rising Star’ award.
Goldblum, who is set to release his new album Still Blooming on April 25th, will oversee the In Memoriam segment of the ceremony, which will pay tribute to figures from the film industry, such as Dame Maggie Smith and David Lynch, who have passed away over the last 12 months.
The movie with the most nominations at the Bafta’s is Edward Berger’s Conclave, which has been shortlisted in 12 categories including ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Film’. Meanwhile, Emilia Pérez secured 11 nominations and also appears in the categories ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Film’. Kneecap is another success story with six nominations, making it the most-nominated debut film in the history of the British Academy.
Other heavily nominated movies include The Brutalist, which picked up nine nods. Additionally, Anora, Dune: Part Two, and Wicked are all tied with seven nominations across the categories.
Despite being featured on the longlist for ‘Supporting Actor’ for his role in Gladiator II, Denzel Washington failed to make the cut for the shortlist and is still yet to receive a Bafta nomination in his career.
At this stage, the only confirmed winner of a Bafta is Warwick Davis, who is set to be celebrated with the prestigious Bafta Fellowship on February 16th. The prize honours those who have “made an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, games or television.”
David Tennant is set to host the Baftas for a second occasion after previously helming proceedings in 2024 with great success. It will be able to watch in the UK on BBC One and BBC iPlayer live on February 16th.
