Bad Bunny sued for $16 million for using voice recording on two songs
Bad Bunny is facing a $16 million lawsuit, which claims that the Puerto Rican star, along with his producing partner, used a recording of a woman’s voice on two songs without her prior permission.
Tainaly Y. Serrano Rivera filed a 32-page lawsuit. As per Rolling Stone, Serrano writes that her voice appears on the track ‘Solo de Mi’ from X 100pre, as well as the follow-up song, ‘EoO’, from the 2025 album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos.
According to Serrano, she can be heard on the tracks delivering the line, “Mira, puñeta, no me quiten el perreo.” This translates to, “Look, damn it, don’t take away my perreo.”
Serrano alleges that she recorded the line at the request of Bad Bunny’s producer, Roberto Rosado, also known as La Paciencia.
She recorded it in 2018 when they were both students together at the Interamerican University of Arecibo. After their lives drifted apart, Serrano reports that she was never told that the snippet would be used for commercial purposes.
As such, Serrano alleges she was never given the chance to negotiate a contract, license, or written authorisation for the song’s usage in Bad Bunny’s discography.
According to Serrano’s lawsuit, the clip has now become an instantly recognisable catchphrase, associated with the Grammy-winning artist.
Serrano has alleged that the star uses the catchphrase during concerts, as well as selling it on t-shirts and other merchandise pieces.
As such, according to Serrano and her lawyers, Bad Bunny and his record label, Rimas Entertainment, owe her $16 million for violating her privacy and publicity rights.
Serrano’s lawyers, Jose M. Marxuach Fagot and Joanna Bocanegra Ocasio, previously represented Bad Bunny’s ex-girlfriend, Carliz De La Cruz Hernández. She also sued the performer in 2023 for allegedly using her voice on two songs without her permission. A final resolution for that case is still pending.
