Astronomer CEO Andy Byron placed on leave after affair caught on camera at Coldplay concert
Amid the viral controversy after a kiss cam used at a Coldplay concert caught the CEO of tech company Astronomer having an affair, his company have announced that Andy Byron has been placed on leave during their internal investigation.
At Coldplay’s recent Boston show, their kiss camera focused on Byron and Kristin Cabot, his Head of People, in an embrace. “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re very shy,” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin commented as they both swiftly ducked when they noticed themselves projected on the main screen.
Taking to social media to update the internet, who cannot seem to get enough of the viral video, Astronomer wrote, “Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is currently serving as interim CEO given Andy Byron has been placed on leave.”
They also added, “We will share more details as appropriate in the coming days.”
In a previous statement on their social media page, the company emphasised the code of conduct it expects from its entire team: “Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.”
After this, they confirmed an investigation into the CEO was underway. The internet is yet to hear from Byron directly, though many news outlets were fooled by the release of a mock viral apology that appeared to come from Byron following the incident.
In the fraudulent statement, the writer pretending to be Byron expressed that he wanted to “take accountability” for his actions, adding, “How troubling it is that what should have been a private moment became public without my consent. I respect artists and entertainers, but I hope we can all think more deeply about the impact of turning someone else’s life into a spectacle.”
The company has also confirmed this statement as false.
Though Byron’s wife has given no statement, she has since allegedly removed his last name from her social media pages.
