Ariana Grande to join Robert De Niro and original cast for ‘Meet the Parents 4’
Pop-star Ariana Grande will reportedly star alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in Meet the Parents 4.
Universal has dated the film’s release for November 25th, 2026. John Hamburg, who co-wrote the first three movies, will return to pick up the golden comedy pen.
Blythe Danner and Teri Polo, who also starred in the initial trio of movies, are reportedly expected to return. However, this has yet to be made official, as their deals have not closed, The Hollywood Reporter shares.
In 2000, the original film became the seventh-highest-grossing film globally of that year, making $330 million at the global box office. It tracks the universal event of having your future father-in-law bless a marriage proposal.
Following the acclaim received by Meet The Parents, De Niro pushed for a sequel, resulting in Meet The Fockers, which saw Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand join the cast. Released four years later, the movie was an even greater hit, grossing a whopping $522m. However, they soon reunited for a third movie in the series, Little Fockers, which was a critical disaster.
The new plot remains under wraps. However, some sources have suggested that one section of the movie revolves around the son of Stiller and Polo’s characters. He gets engaged to a ball-busting woman who seems all wrong for him; reportedly, this is who Ariana Grande will play.
Last year, Grande pivoted back into acting after growing “tired” of being a pop star, taking the role of Glinda in the long-awaited adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Wicked.
Previously, the ‘Thank you, next’ singer spoke of how she loved comedy acting, as it soothed her. “It heals me to do that,” she said, “finding roles to use these parts of myself.” In light of these comments, starring in a beloved comedy franchise alongside two of the biggest actors of the last decades seems like the right move for Grande’s career.
