Jennifer Hudson dazzles as Aretha Franklin in new trailer for 'RESPECT'

A new trailer for the upcoming Aretha Franklin biopic RESPECT has arrived and sees Jennifer Hudson dazzle as Lady Soul herself.

The sad loss of Aretha Franklin due to pancreatic cancer in 2018 was only matched by the outpouring of appreciation for one of the most iconic voices in the game. The new biopic will look to pay homage to an unimaginable career.

RESPECT is the true story of how Aretha found her voice, charting her meteoric rise from a church choir singer to one of the most respected artists ever.

The film will star Hudson, who was handpicked by Franklin herself before she passed, as the Queen of Soul, while there are also roles for Forrest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Heather Headley, and Mary J. Blige.

The first clip of the upcoming biopic sees Hudson performing the Otis Redding-written titular track. Taking her spot on centre stage Hudson shows why she was the only choice for this role.
