Arcade Fire to headline Krewe du Kanaval 2020

Arcade Fire have been announced as the headliners of the 2020 edition of New Orleans festival Krewe du Kanaval.

The event, which was founded by Arcade Fire’s very own Win Butler and Régine Chassagne alongside Ben Jaffe of Preservation Hall Jazz Band, has unveiled a line-up which includes the likes of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Jillionaire, Pierre Kwenders, and more.

Arcade Fire, who will headline Kanaval Ball on February 14th, have also confirmed that the theme for Krewe du Kanaval 2020 is ‘Merci Haiti’. Speaking in a statement about the returning music event, Chassagne said, “Krewe du Kanaval was created to honour New Orleans’ Creole culture with its Haitian and Caribbean roots—a piece of this city’s history that is very important to me.”

She added, “Our Krewe hopes to join the amazing people of New Orleans carrying this torch and carve a place in the Carnival tradition to explicitly pay tribute to these roots.”
