Angus and Julia Stone announce new album ‘Cape Forrestier’
Australian indie folk duo Angus and Julia Stone have announced their sixth studio album, Cape Forrestier, set or release on May 10th via Play It Again Sam.
The album follows the release of the duo’s original video game soundtrack for Life Is Strange: True Colors, released in 2021. Their upcoming offering will see them return to more personal songwriting, charting love, society, and human connection.
The announcement is accompanied by the release of lead single ‘The Wedding Song’. The track was initially written for a specific friend’s wedding, but the duo have since performed it at various ceremonies for people close to them, “including our mums.” “We received so many requests from fans for a proper recording to use on their special day,” they explained, “so we decided to make that happen.”
The duo decided to choose the song as the lead single for Cape Forrestier because of its thematic focus on love.
“The song is a celebration of love and human connection,” they shared in a statement. “In a world that can feel disconnected and frightening, we want to share something that reflects the beauty of how humans choose to treat each other, love each other, and make promises to build something beautiful together.”
The new release is accompanied by a gorgeous video which splices clips of the duo performing ‘The Wedding Song’ with real footage of weddings, reflecting the love espoused in the lyrics. It was directed by Jarrad Seng.
The indie folk outfit have also announced a tour later this year following the release of the record. They will take to stages across Europe in May and June, including dates at London’s Royal Albert Hall and Paris’s L’Olympia.
Cape Forrestier is released on May 10th, watch the music video for ‘The Wedding Song’ below.
