American Football announce world tour with portion of proceeds going to anti-ICE charities

American Football have announced a world tour, with a portion of their proceeds going towards anti-ICE charities.

The band made the announcement on February 3rd, revealing that they are set to embark on a mammoth tour of the US, Canada, and Europe, running from May until August this year.

It is set to mark the first time that the acclaimed emo rockers have been on the road in two years, since the 25th anniversary tour of their debut album LP1 in 1999.

Having not released any new music since their third record, LP3, in 2019, the band recently teased a new announcement on the way via their Instagram account last week.

They have now followed this up with the news of the tour, which will kick off on May 15th in Denver, Colorado at the Summit Music Hall. Over the summer, American Football will fly to the UK for two dates taking place at the O2 Academy in Leeds on June 26th, and O2 Kentish Town in London on June 27th.

As part of this, for every ticket sold, $1 (or the equivalent amount in currencies across the UK and Europe) will be donated to the charities Safe Passage International and The Illinois Coalition for Immigration and Refugee Rights, via the organisation PLUS1.

These charities exist to support immigration rights as well as offering help to deportees, migrants, and refugees.

The band have chosen to make the move “In response to the deadly violence and intimidation around the country provoked by ICE,” according to the press release for the tour.

Tickets for American Football’s upcoming tour will be made available via presale at 10am local time on February 4th, while general sale will begin on February 6th, also at 10am local time.
