Alice in Chains cancel all tour and festival dates due to drummer’s medical emergency
After the drummer of Alice in Chains, Sean Kinney, suffered a “medical emergency” earlier this week, the band have cancelled all upcoming shows.
This comes after they cancelled their show in Connecticut on May 8th, shortly before they were set to take the stage. They explained in a statement: “After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency.”
Without revealing the condition, on Friday, the band revealed that their North American tour was off. All future stops, including those at Columbus’ Sonic Temple and Daytona Beach’s Welcome to Rockville festival, are cancelled.
They took to social media to break the news. “After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming festival performance and the Alice in Chains headline shows,” the band wrote.
They continued: “While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean’s health is our top priority at this moment. Although the issue requires immediate attention, his long-term prognosis is positive.”
Despite this being their first tour since 2023, the band only pulled off one Las Vegas show before being forced to cancel the rest. They were also lined up to take part in on July 5th in Villa Park in Birmingham for Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell concert with Black Sabbath.
The star-studded line-up also includes Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Anthrax, Mastodon, Tool as well as members of Judas Priest, Limp Bizkit, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Megadeth, Van Halen, Ghost, and Faith No More. Alice in Chains are now dashed from the list.
“We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support during this time,” the band closed the Instagram post with.
