Nearly 35 years ago, one of the most successful independent record labels ever was created. The label was Creation Records and it was home to so much talent across the roster, least of all it’s empirical and undeniably brilliant founder Alan McGee. Now McGee is back and wants to start putting out music again.
“I want to put out records again. I’ve missed it, there’s a lot of good music around and it feels like a good time to do it. Twenty-three is my lucky number.” He told Fused Magazine.
Rubber Jaw, a band from North Essex, is the first to get the McGee treatment with their debut ‘Feeling Funny’. The song is a lilting looking at the depth of pop music, with the combination of analogue and digital work melting together to deliver something very modern.
There’s a similarly modern aesthetic for the video. Undisputedly inspired by films such as The Man Who Fell To Earth and Eraserhead, the self-directed video shows the artistic vision for the band.
‘Feeling Funny’ and its B-Side ‘Bumpy Faces’ comes in a limited edition, numbered and coloured 7” with artwork and inserts made by the band. It includes a golden ticket to gain free entry with a plus one to every show for a year.
All pre-ordered vinyl will receive ‘Feeling Funny’ as an IG track.
