Aimee Lou Wood receives apology from ‘Saturday Night Live’ star following controversial sketch

Aimee Lou Wood has received an apology from Saturday Night Live star Sarah Sherman who spoofed her The White Lotus character and made fun of her teeth in a recent sketch.

The apology came in the form of “beautiful flowers” that Wood posted on her Instagram story. “Thank you for the beautiful flowers,” she said, tagging Sherman into the image of the bouquet.

Wood has discussed the sketch on Instagram previously, ensuring fans knew that she wasn’t lashing out at Sherman in particular. “Yes, take the piss for sure — that’s what the show is about — but there must be a [more clever], more nuanced, less cheap way?”

She clarified this further, saying, “Nobody at HBO called me ugly!! I just spiralled about it because of my own imposter syndrome… But whilst in honest mode, I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny xo.” Wood added, “Felt righteous, might delete later.”

The 31-year-old British actor was recently seen crying in London around the time of the controversy by paparazzi, but took to social media to stress that that was an “unrelated” show of emotion.

The skit featured comedians acting as political figures, from the current President Trump to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., while posturing as The White Lotus characters. They called the skit The White Potus as it imagined political figures on holiday at the infamous resort chain.

Wood’s co-star publicly praised the Saturday Night Live skit; Walton Goggins reshared the clip to his Instagram Story, alongside the word “smashing” before deleting the post.

It comes as rumours of a feud between Goggins and Wood have been ignited after the pair appeared to unfollow each other on social media, and have since avoided tagging each other’s accounts when posting photos of their characters online as promotion for the show.
