Aaron Taylor-Johnson to star in David Mackenzie’s new movie ‘Fuze’

British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson is confirmed to star in the upcoming David Mackenzie heist movie, Fuze.

The thriller is being launched by Anton who financed the project. Fuze will be heading to the European Film Market in Berlin later this month, where its worldwide rights will be available to purchase. Taylor-Johnson previously teamed up with Mackenzie in 2018 on Outlaw King.

The synopsis for Fuze, which has been written by Ben Hopkins, claims the film “opens on the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb in a London construction site, sparking a mass evacuation – the perfect cover for a heist.”

Meanwhile, in a statement, Mackenzie said: “Tension is one of the purest emotions that cinema can create. I had the idea of combining all the high stakes of an unexploded bomb with that of a bank robbery — clashing these two genres to create as much pressure as possible — in a context that feels as real as possible.”

The director added: “Ben Hopkins took those ingredients and cooked up the compelling script that we are now taking into production.”

Producer Gillian Berrie noted: “Together, David Mackenzie and DP Giles Nuttgens are dynamos. Just add Aaron Taylor-Johnson and we have the Midas touch for this whirlwind movie. I cannot wait!”

Elsewhere, at the European Film Market, Andrea Arnold is also set to launch her new film, Bird. The movie, which stars Barry Keoghan and Franz Rogowski, was shot last summer in Kent, United Kingdom. During filming, Keoghan was pictured riding a scooter as a heavily tattooed character with an unknown younger actor.

While the plot for Bird remains under wraps, the upcoming motion picture marks Arnold’s first traditional film since 2016’s American Honey, which starred Sasha Lane, Shia LaBeouf and Riley Keough.
