10 Record Store Day releases we need in our lives

It’s that time of year again Record Store Day is back again to spread the vinyl love and make you take a look in your local indie record shop.

Here are 10 reasons why they’ve got a point

Courtney Barnett – Kim’s Caravan: Our favourite singer/songwriter of the moment Barnett is releasing a 12” single via Mom+Pop records of the amazing ‘Kim’s Caravan’ from the new LP. This special edition also features a brilliant John Cale cover.

Daughter – Winter (Warpaint Remix): What more could you want than two sultry songs by two ethereal bands remixed by the other. Well, that’s what you get. Warpaint remix ‘Winter’ and Daughter remix ‘Feelin’ Alright’. No brainer this one.

Run The Jewels – Bust No Moves: Killer Mike and El-P, fresh from releasing one of the bigger albums to drop in 2014, are bringing new track ‘Bust No Moves’ along with some album favourite for RSD 2015.

Johnny Marr – I Feel You: A cover of the 19993 Depeche Mode hit is a clear must-have for RSD2015. It’s got Marr on guitar and is covering a Depeche Mode classic. Seriously, what more do you need?

Father John Misty – I Loved You, Honeybee: released on a heart-shaped vinyl (we’re as intrigued as you are) you have to hear this alternative version of the album track ‘I Love You, Honeybear’ as well as never heard before ‘I’ve Never Been A Woman’ on the B-Side.

Brian Wilson – The Right Time: A release from The Beach Boys is always welcomed by Far Out. This release of a 7” ‘No Pier Pressure’ is even more welcome with tracks like ‘The Right Time’ and ‘Sail Away’ is the most worth spending your money for.

Pulp: ‘Freaks’ ‘Separations’, ‘Little Girl (with Blue Eyes)’, ‘It’, ‘They Suffocate At Night’ ‘Dogs are Everywhere’ – Yep, that’s the list of Pulp releases for RSD2015.

The White Stripes – Get Behind Me Satan: For the first time ever you can get this brilliant release on tasty, tasty vinyl. The double LP with one disc red and one disc white ‘Get Behind Me Satan’ is an obvious choice for fans and collectors.

Johnny Cash – Koncert v Praze: A new vinyl release of Johnny Cash performing his Greatest Hits in Prague seems to me like a no-brainer but perhaps that’s just me. Nope, it’s a no-brainer.

Hinds ♥ The Parrots – A collaboration between our favourite Spanish artists ( we will name another soon, we promise) is a jangling beauty of a release. With Hinds covering Thee Headcoats ‘Davey Crockett and The Parrots doing their thing on the flip side we know one way to make April 18th the most fun ever. Buy this release, duh!
