Zoe Saldaña becomes the highest-grossing actor of all-time
Zoe Saldaña has officially become the highest-grossing actor of all time, beating out the record previously held by Scarlett Johansson.
Saldaña’s latest film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, has been the factor to move the dial in her favour, with it having grossed over $1.23 billion at the box office so far, and thus bringing the total gross of all the movies the actor has starred in to $16.8 billion, according to Screen Rant.
This officially cements Saldaña as the highest-grossing actor in the world, as Johansson previously held the title with a total gross of $16.4 billion.
Alongside the latest instalment in the Avatar franchise, Saldaña has also played roles in a slew of massive blockbusters, including the likes of Star Trek, Avengers: End Game, and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Despite this, her most recent role in Avatar: Fire and Ash lost out on its only Golden Globe nomination in the ‘Cinematic and Box Office Achievement’ category to Sinners.
However, Saldaña has also won critical praise in the past, particularly with her win for ‘Best Supporting Actress’ in Emilia Pérez at the 2025 Oscars.
All of this combined has firmly placed her at the top of the five highest-grossing actors in Hollywood, with the rest of the group, aside from her and Johansson, being rounded out by Samuel L Jackson, Robert Downey Jr, and Chris Pratt.
It is evident that the Marvel Cinematic Universe still holds major gravitas in determining the highest-grossing actors in the world, as all five have featured in multiple of its movies.
However, with the addition of Saldaña starring in the Avatar franchise, directed by James Cameron, this has boosted her box office status significantly, with the series having grossed a total of over $6 billion so far.
