Zendaya to play Shrek and Fiona’s daughter in ‘Shrek 5’
Shrek 5 will feature Zendaya, the beloved franchise has revealed on their X page.
In the upcoming movie, Zendaya, who has starred in the Dune series alongside Timothée Chalamet and Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers, will voice the daughter of Fiona (Cameron Diaz) and Shrek (Mike Myers) in Shrek 5.
The fifth Shrek film, which also will see Eddie Murphy return as Donkey, is scheduled to be released on December 23rd, 2026. It’s the first movie set within the Shrek universe since Shrek Forever After in 2010.
At this stage, no synopsis has been revealed about the forthcoming project, but a short teaser trailer has been released which provides viewers with their first glimpse of Zendaya in her voice role.
Shrek 5 is just one of the many projects that Zendaya currently has on the go as one of the most in-demand figures in Hollywood. She has been recruited by Christopher Nolan to appear in his highly-anticipated movie, The Odyssey, Kristoffer Borgli’s The Drama, and the long-awaited third series of Euphoria.
Although Shrek 5 isn’t due to be released for almost two years, work has already got underway on the animated picture. Last year, Mike Myers told Vulture that he’d started on the film, but hadn’t yet teamed up with his co-stars, stating, “I have. But I don’t get to see them until later. I love Donkey so much. I want Donkey to live in my house. I love that character, and I kind of enjoy not seeing Eddie, although he’s hilarious and lovely and very nice, a generous human being.”
Myers added: “I love Donkey so much that seeing and hearing him gets me excited. Then I see Eddie at the press junkets and stuff, and it’s fun. He’s a cool dude. Cooler than I’ll ever be.”
