Zach Bryan releases acoustic version of new album, ‘With Heaven On Top’
Zach Bryan has released an acoustic edition of his new 25-track album, With Heaven On Top.
The sprawling new album, Bryan’s first since 2024’s Great American Bar Scene, arrived on January 9th. A day prior to its release, he confirmed that an acoustic version was also on the way, with the singer-songwriter pre-meditating fan complaints.
The ‘Sun to Me’ singer wrote on Instragram on January 8th, “I’m assuming this record is just like all the other ones and there’s gonna be a billion people saying it’s over produced and shitty so I sat down in a room by myself and recorded all the songs acoustically so I didn’t have to hear everyone whine about more stuff.”
He admitted, “There’s mistakes and I didn’t redo any of them but this’ll be out three days after With Heaven On Top drops tomorrow.”
In another Instagram post, Bryan delved into the process behind With Heaven On Top, revealing it was recorded in Oklahoma this winter, sharing of his intention for the deeply-personal LP, “I pray these all end up meaning as much to others as they mean to me. Songs are living things, they want to be free and these free’d me.”
Bryan, who recently opened up about his mental health struggles and sobriety in November, also explained the album title, “I was in the throes for a long time and the simple statement of heaven being above me got me through a lot.”
He further reflected, “I feel like I’ve lived all my 20’s out on a very large, very lucky and very unfair stage but this one felt different.”
In March, Bryan will begin the North American leg of his stadium tour, which will see him joined by very special guests including Kings of Leon, MJ Lenderman, Caamp, Gregory Alan Isakov and Alabama Shakes.
Three months later, in June, the singer-songwriter will headline two nights at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, as well as perform at Anfield in Liverpool and Murrayfield in Edinburgh. He will also perform in Cork, Belfast, San Sebastián, Berlin, Oslo, Copenhagen and Eindhoven while in Europe.
