Zach Bryan pledges to never play Kansas again due to Kansas City Chiefs fans
Singer-songwriter Zach Bryan has pledged to never perform again in Kansas City after feuding online with fans of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Bryan is a superfan of the Philadelphia Eagles, who earlier this year stopped the Kansas City Chiefs from a historic three-straight Super Bowl victories, scoring a 40-22 win at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Reflecting on the Eagles’ win, six months later, Bryan wrote on X on August 8th, “Where are all the three peat people from last year”, which elicited a string of furious responses.
In response to one fan who wrote, “Talking shit in general is all good. He’s singled out one fanbase. That same fanbase that sells out his shows,” Bryan replied, “Please understand I will never play in Kansas City.”
The same fan then requested that Bryan remove a recording of ‘Fifth of May’ from a show in Kansas on his 24 live album, to which he responded, “Done brother”. As of the time of writing, it’s still on 24.
In a separate post, he added, “I’ll be about to finish my show and then get a taunting call if I play at that stadium.”
He also wrote, “Bro all u have to do to piss off a chiefs fan is play a fair game of football”, and defended his posts by saying, “Guys it’s okay to talk trash to each other about football yall are weird as hell”.
Bryan recently played Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado over the weekend, which is intimate by his stadium-sized standards. For the special show, tickets were capped at $50, and Kings of Leon joined him to perform their new collaboration, ‘Bowery’.
Last month, Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill also joined Bryan at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to perform ‘Atlantic City’ with Bruce Springsteen. Next up on his itinerary is a visit to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco on August 15th, ahead of more stadiums in West Virginia’s Huntington, Indiana’s Notre Dame, and Ann Arbor in Michigan.
