‘Yellowstone’ creator Taylor Sheridan to leave Paramount for NBCUniversal
Taylor Sheridan, the director and creator of many TV hits in recent years, including Yellowstone, is set to leave his deal at Paramount and make the move to NBCUniversal.
The news was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter on October 26th, which detailed that Sheridan will be switching production houses for a film deal that will begin next year, although his television deal will remain with Paramount until 2028.
However, despite the number of years that still lie ahead in his deal with Paramount in terms of TV, it is expected that the director will also transfer the TV aspect of his work over to NBCUniversal when the deal eventually runs out.
At this time, Sheridan nor any of his associates have made any public statements on the move, and a representative for NBCUniversal declined to comment when approached by The Hollywood Reporter regarding speculation over the news.
Sheridan’s move will spark a major change in the current Hollywood landscape as he is one of the industry’s most prolific and sought-after filmmakers, with massive hits under his belt including the Paramount+ Western Yellowstone. Its multiple spin-offs, including the likes of 1923 and 1883 have also become huge hits for the streaming platform.
The director has also been responsible for some stellar series with A-list casts, such as Tulsa King, which was led by Sylvester Stallone. Alongside this, he has also worked with a litany of stars, not least Helen Mirren, Harrison Ford, and Jeremy Renner.
One of Sheridan’s most famous leads was, of course, Kevin Costner, who originally played the lead role of John Dutton in Yellowstone for four-and-a-half series. However, the actor was left with a sour taste as he was “disappointed” that no-one from the studio defended him when untrue rumours began to circulate in the press with regards to his exit from the show.
Despite Sheridan’s upcoming move to NBCUniversal for his film projects, his next movie in the pipeline, an action-thriller called F.A.S.T, is set to be produced with Warner Bros.
