Yak – Something on Your Mind
London trio Yak have gained quick notoriety for their vitriolic performances which throw glass, grit and gruesome antics on to the stage. But this the cover of Karen Dalton’s ‘Something On Your Mind’ the b-side to their debut release ‘Hungry Heart’ out on Fat Possum RecordsIs something else. This hauntingly beautiful number is our Track of the Day.
The band have a hell of a schedule in front of them but if their enegry can last this will be one of the most amazing tours. Combing big hall time with dingy dives the band look set to expand on their already burning potential.
The track though speaks to their softer side as they dip their toes in to the sonic-scaping pool. They do so though with complete affection and honesty and the song speaks volumes for their musicality not just their musicality being turned up to volume 11.
With a tour in May (see below) including supporting the Strokes, Peace and Superfood – you HAVE to see this band to believe the hype.
