Take six minutes out of your day to enjoy our Track of the Day. Six minutes? Yes, six minutes. Six minutes of pure, unbridled psychedelic scuzz via one of the most talked about bands of the moment (they were our Track of the Day yesterday) Yak and their delicately debauched, six minute masterstroke ‘Distortion’.
It’s hard to convey the amount of attention surrounding this band. Their debut EP ‘Plastic People’ has most tongues wagging already, every media outlet is salivating over its release, add to that a tour with The Big Moon and Yak are going places – excuse the pun.
But the attention is not unmerited, the band have full command of their arsenal. Deciding whether to gas their audience with their own blend of sultry psyche or whether to open up the cannons and hit listeners with a blast of punk riffs and distorted fury.
‘Distortion’ surmises this weaponry, lulling the audience in to an enticing drawl of keys and gentle guitar before blasting them across the face with their shotgun of strings.
Portraying the dark side of The Velvet Underground the band continue to enthrall everyone who is lucky enough to catch them (you lucky devils Live at Leeds). Embodying punk spirit with a twisted edge Yak are slowly becoming a Far Out Favourite.
