The Y Not Festival is returning in the summer after having had to cancel last year’s gathering due to coronavirus restrictions. This year’s fest, which will take place in Pikehall, Derbyshire, between July 30 and August 1, will feature Bombay Bicycle Club, Blossoms, and Stereophonics as its headliners.
Further down the poster, you’ll find big-name acts like Manic Street Preachers, Fontaines D.C., Jake Bugg, and Frank Turner. Levellers and James have been announced as special guests, with hot indie acts like Dream Wife and The Big Moon filling out the bill. Terrorvision will also be there, which gives me as good an excuse as any to plug how much I love the Mint Royal Shot remix of ‘Tequila’. I will not apologise for this. It just makes me happy.
“We can’t wait to headline this year’s event,” said Blossoms frontman Tom Ogden. “Y Not was the first festival I ever went to in 2012 so to be back there headlining is really quite surreal. It’s going to be a very special night.”
“If the last time we played Y Not is anything to go by this year’s festival will be great,” Stereophonics bassist and founder Richard Jones added. “In 2017 the rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the crowd who were up for a good time. I remember watching Slaves and Jake Bugg who were both on form. After the year everyone has been through, I’m sure it will be a memorable weekend for everyone!”
“After a tough year for live music, there’s finally some light at the end of the tunnel and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Y Not Festival for the celebration we all deserve,” Managing Director of the fest Jason Oakley said. “Thank you for sticking with us and we can’t wait to see you all there.”
