WU LYF announce upcoming reunion shows

Cult Manchester band WU LYF appears to have confirmed a reunion and will play a number of reunion shows in the coming months. The shows will be in their hometown, and they have also confirmed some festival dates in Belgium and France.

Rumours of a reunion began circulating when a fan received a postcard directing them to the band’s website. The website makes it clear that upcoming shows are in the pipeline, as a number of different dates are listed. The band also seemingly confirmed the news on their social media on March 20th when they posted a carousel of photos with the caption “A NEW LIFE IS COMING.”

The band has been considered a cult favourite among music lovers since their debut album, Go Tell Fire To The Mountain, in 2011. Fans will undoubtedly be keen to attend these upcoming shows, but details on when tickets will be released have yet to be confirmed.

WU LYF originally split up on November 24th, 2012. Their run as a band had been short-lived but incredibly exciting. News of the breakup came when the band uploaded a new song, ‘T R I U M P H’, on YouTube. This was accompanied by a notice from lead singer Ellery James Roberts resigning from the band.

When asked about the breakup five years later, Roberts said, “It was quite a dark moment in a lot of sense in my life. But it teaches you a lot.”

He continued, “It all coming to an end was more of a revelation on my part. The band had this initial period of genuine, pure pursuit. But then you go on the road and we were 19-21.”

“There’s a two-year period of all of this happening,” he said, “Your eyes are opened to a lot of the world and you can see that a lot of things aren’t right, thus I decided I need to fundamentally get things right with myself.”

This is a developing story; information on ticket releases, new music and further upcoming shows is yet to be revealed.
