Wolf Alice, Foals, The Vaccines take part in NHS compilation album to help raise funds

It may seem a bit trite to ask for donations to our National Health Service but if there is ever a good time to say your thanks to the hardworking men and women of the NHS then it is now.

Underfunded and underpaid, the staff across the NHS are working tirelessly to help save lives in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. To make matters worse many of those workers are going in to work and risking their lives without the proper protective equipment.

That’s where Foals, Wolf Alice, Sports Team, The Vaccines, Baxter Dury and more have teamed up to release Songs for the National Health Service, a compilation album aimed at directly raising funds for the PPE equipment many frontline workers still need.

A one-off vinyl pressing, the album will combine a host of artists delivering previously unheard songs. They range from new tracks from the likes of Baxter Dury to some brilliant covers.

Wolf Alice take on ‘Another Girl, Another Planet’ while The Magic Gang do their best Wham! impression on ‘Club Tropicana.’ The artists are working in partnership with the campaign ‘Hoods For Heroes’ launched by Dr. Natalie Watson at University Hospital Lewisham.

“The NHS is not a charity but it needs our help. This limited edition compilation of unreleased material is on vinyl only and will go directly to Hoods For Heroes to help aid their purchase of reusable PPE ventilators,” said The Vaccine son their Twitter page.

The target of £30,000 should see ‘PAPR’ (powered air-purifying respirators) stocked in NHS trusts in various locations across the country.
