Will Smith spoke to both Prince and Biggie Smalls hours before they died: “It’s a terrible jinx”
Will Smith claims he might be cursed after claiming Prince and Biggie Smalls died just hours after speaking to him.
The two artists are legends in their respective genres, with Prince passing from an accidental fentanyl overdose in 2016 and Biggie being shot and killed in 1997, and Smith has noticed a worrying theme.
The Oscar-winning actor is returning to music this year with Based on a True Story, his first album since 2005’s Lost and Found. During his appearance on the Broken Record Podcast, Smith opened up about his conversations with Prince and Biggie less than 12 hours before they lost their lives.
“I don’t even want to say this out loud because it’s a terrible jinx,” he began. “I met Biggie four hours before he got killed, and I talked to Prince eight hours before he died.”
Smith detailed their chats, revealing ‘The Purple One’ wanted to form a company with himself and Jay-Z. Hov was allegedly on board with the idea, but Prince died the following day.
“I talked to Prince; he called, and he was pitching,” he explained. “He was saying that me, him, and Jay-Z should start an entertainment company, and he said he had talked to Jay and he wanted to do it. We talked that night, and in the morning he was gone.”
The ‘Gettin Jiggy Wit It’ rapper told celebrities not to call him due to the unfortunate circumstances related to Prince and Biggie’s deaths.
“I just — I don’t know what that says about me… I’m like, ‘Don’t call me, don’t call me!'” he said. “The Biggie one made me cry. Because it was, like, stupid, and it was centred on hip-hop — like, for rapping. That one hurt me. It scared me, too. But yeah, I’m not going there.”
