White House hits back at Ariana Grande over criticism of Donald Trump: “Save your tears, Ariana”
A spokesperson for the White House has hit back at Ariana Grande after she reshared an Instagram post criticising Donald Trump, telling her: “Save your tears, Ariana.”
On September 28th, the pop singer took to her Instagram Stories to repost a an infographic photo which asked supporters of Trump what they think the US president has truly achieved so far throughout the course of his second administration, which concluded by saying: “Has the widespread suffering of others paid off for you in the way he promised it would, or are you still waiting?”
Despite Grande adding no further comment of her own to the post, her reshare was evidently enough to catch the attention of the White House, with a spokesperson named Kush Desai now hitting back at her.
Desai said in a statement to TMZ: “Save your tears, Ariana, because President Trump’s actions ended Joe Biden’s inflation crisis and are bringing in trillions in new investments,” referencing the title of the hit song Grande featured on with The Weeknd in 2020.
The statement from the White House added: “He even signed an executive order just like magic that paved the way for the FTC to crack down on Ticketmaster for ripping off Ariana Grande’s concert-going fans. Get well soon, Ariana!”
Grande has been an outspoken critic of Trump’s administration on many occasions, most notably signing an open letter imploring the president to protect LGBTQ+ suicide prevention funding, as well as calling for his impeachment after his bombing of Iran in June.
The pop star is set to embark on a UK and US tour for her album Eternal Sunshine next year, before which she will star as Glinda in the hotly anticipated upcoming movie, Wicked: For Good.
