Katie Crutchfield, AKA Waxahatchee, has shared a brand new video for her recently released single ‘Recite Remorse’ whicvh was taken from her brilliant and widely acclaimed fourth LP Out In The Storm. The video is a fitting clip for the track which hangs on every word of Crutchfield’s beautiful vocal.
The album’s previous singles felt a little more rough around the edges than ‘Recite Remorse’, they had a decidedly grittier appeal whereas the new track floats along a saccharine sub-plot of admiration and confusion. Fitting then that the video sees Crutchfield float across a room filled to the brim with hypnotic blue lights, as the track and video meander together down the stream of Waxahatchee’s conscience.
Speaking of the album Crutchfield has said “I was really emotionally overwrought when I wrote this record, my friend Daniel, who took the photo for the artwork, described it as ‘claustrophobic’, and I completely agree. There’s so much in there, but I think it’s cool, I think it’s good. It’s all the stuff I always needed to say and never got the chance to.
“For me, one of my priorities as a songwriter is to articulate exactly how I’m feeling, and if I can get really close to being able to do that, hopefully that will draw people in and help them to relate to it. That’s the best feeling, and I think that I did that.”
