As Katie Crutchfield, AKA Waxahatchee gets ready to share her new album, Saint Cloud, the singer-songwriter has shared a brand new single. ‘Can’t Do Much’ is our Track of the Day.
With the new LP Saint Cloud due out on March 27th via Merge Records, Waxahatchee has shared the brand new single as the final taster of the upcoming record.
From the tracks released so far ‘Fire’ and ‘Lilacs’, Saint Cloud is set to be a seminal album in Crutchfield’s career. ‘Can’t Do Much’, arrives as the first song she wrote for the album.
Waxahatchee tells us, “It’s meant to be an extremely unsentimental love song, a love song with a strong dose of reality. It was written early on in a relationship, where the feelings were super intense, but also fear or apprehension were sort of keeping me from totally relaxing in it yet. Sort of like ‘it’s annoying that I love you so much’—totally unromantic, which sort of makes it really romantic to me.”
Saint Cloud is set to see Crutchfield at her most reflective. Written in the period directly after deciding to go sober, the album is an unflinching look into her past and peering glimmer of the future.
