Watch the new trailer for June Carter Cash documentary ‘June’
A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Paramount documentary June, a film exploring the life and career of iconic singer-songwriter and Johnny Cash‘s second wife, June Carter Cash.
The documentary, helmed by Emmy-winning documentarian Kristen Vaurio, provides a glimpse into Carter Cash’s life as an underappreciated talent living in her husband’s shadow.
At the start of the new trailer, country singer Kacey Musgraves asks the question sure to become the film’s focus: “Who is June Carter Cash?” To which she answers, “A badass bitch.”
The clip unfolds by previewing Cash’s early exposure to music and performing, including in her family’s Americana group, The Carters, along with collaborating with her husband and writing ‘Ring of Fire’.
It also chronicles her relationship with Cash and features an old video of her recalling how they met in her own words.
The trailer includes various talking heads, including Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson, who each attest to Carter Cash’s artistry and credibility as someone who was both a working mother and an overlooked musician.
Alongside rare never-before-seen archival footage, June also features interviews with Larry Gatlin, Robert Duvall, Ronnie Dunn, and Reese Witherspoon, who portrayed the singer in 2005’s Walk the Line alongside Joaquin Phoenix.
June will be available to stream starting on January 16, 2024, through Paramount. Check out the trailer below.
