Tame Impala made their return to the live stage for the first time in a year with a headline set at Madrid’s Mad Cool Festival.
The band, who recently unveiled specially curated merchandise for their exclusive festival appearances this summer, rolled through their back catalogue of hits to a more than the welcoming crowd.
While fans patiently wait for new music from Tame Impala, their release of 2017’s deluxe edition of their latest LP Currents (2015) with three unknown songs and two remixes, is all they have been able to feed off. It was, however, that music that lit up Madrid on Thursday evening.
Playing a barnstorming 18 tracks, the band looked genuinely delighted to be back on stage together and it ultimately proved to be the key to a successful show. Opening with ‘Nangs’, Tame Impala rolled into ‘Let It Happen’ and ‘Sundown Syndrome’ before bringing back fan favourite ‘Keep on Lying’ for the event. Here’s the full setlist:
‘Let It Happen’
‘Keep on Lying’
‘Sestri Levante’ – (partial)
‘Why Won’t They Talk to Me?’
‘Why Won’t You Make Up Your Mind?’
‘The Less I Know The Better’
‘Yes I’m Changing’
‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’
‘New Person, Same Old Mistakes’
Some very excitable fans managed to capture the footage of Tame Impala’s return to the stage. Below you’ll find some clips which will be updated throughout the day as we get them.
