Watch Scarlett Johansson star in ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ trailer
The trailer for the Jurassic World Rebirth, the latest instalment in the Jurassic Park movie franchise starring Scarlett Johansson in the lead role, has arrived.
The movie, fourth in the Jurassic World line and seventh in the series overall, features a new ensemble cast including Johansson, Wicked’s Jonathan Bailey, and Moonlight’s Mahershala Ali as they attempt to save the world from those dastardly dinosaurs once again.
Johansson stars as Zora Bennet, a questionably ethical explorer who is leading a group of scientists on an expedition to extract dinosaur blood as a potential cure for heart disease.
In the newly released two-minute action-packed trailer, the Black Widow star is seen putting all her previous superhero training to good use, performing stunts aplenty in the form of flips, chases, and climbs – all to get away from the beasts who, presumably, are trying to kill her.
For Johansson, taking the leading role in the franchise has been a long time coming and in many ways a dream come true, as she told Vanity Fair: “I was really crazy about the [original] film, and I slept in a Jurassic Park pup tent in my bedroom I shared with my sister for a year. Anytime the trades would report a new Jurassic movie, I would forward to my agents like, ‘Hey, I’m available.’”
Years later, she struck up a conversation with the dinosaur’s leader and directing master, Steven Spielberg, intending to talk shop on other projects but with the ulterior motive of getting into her beloved franchise. She recalled that he said: “‘Do I hear you’re a huge superfan?’ I said, ‘It is actually true. I’m confirming. I’m a huge superfan.’” In this sense her wishes have been granted as she swaps fighting Marvel supervillains for velociraptors on the big screen.
Jurassic World Rebirth is directed by Gareth Edwards and will be released on July 2nd, 2025.
